What interests me about this, when they talk about the success of these schemes they talk about, income generated from fines. Which they want to increase, they never seem to stop the problem. If they where really interested in safety, they would educate
using police, or change the road a little fines would be a last resort.

After similar schemes were trialled in Bournemouth and Basildon, the camera is expected to lead to an extra 2,000 to 3,000 penalty charge notices a year.
We had loads of traffic issues around my school; a couple of kids had been run over. People who lived on the road parked on the road, so the road was already one lane. Then parents would come to pick up their children + local traffic + buses. We had the police around to educate drivers, and direct traffic. The council have now put bays in for the locals to park their cars, there is more than enough, and so parents can use them. We also have a few more barriers to stop kids running in to the road. The senior staffs are at the school gates at the end of the day, four teachers at the bus stop (usually one will be a senior member of staff). I suspect the problem with is approach it costs money and does not make any.
