not really.
We will soon be into winter. The mainstay of power generation is still coal, followed by gas.
No matter how many wind turbines we have there still has to be enough generating capacity to cope with high loads coupled with minimal renewable capacity. The wind does not blow all the time, and lulls occur regularly in winter. Pumped storage is not really a starter.Plus the other irritating problem....CO2 is not a problem for the planet, or the plants. In fact they grow better and faster the more there is.
We need to double the CO2 in the atmosphere....but even if we burnt the entire planets store of fossil fuels it still wouldn't manage it.
Still, I doubt we will live to hear a politician say what they want. Less people.

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

Oh I don't know Jomukuk, the standard historical way out of a "depression" is: ...."Oh! what a lovely war". If it runs true to form, we're not too far away.........

I just had quite a disturbing thought, one that completely undoes the argument for simply applying 'precautionary' policies:

You mean plants which are turned into food for human consumption?
As it is, much of the world's populations are struggling to get enough to eat so are dying from malnutrition. All basic foodstuffs need CO2. The less the CO2, less scope there is for food.

Those who don tin foil hats could claim this could be a deliberate method for controlling the global population ...
