I read somewhere once that the most effective sound bites are those with a k sound in them, the more the better. This goes towards understanding why Speed Kills is so successful. In this light "Safe Speed" is less memorable and has less impact. However something like "Cameras Kill" or "Speed Cameras Kill" has the more impact with two "k" sounds - it can be K or "cuh".
Of course matching the facts to the sound bite can be a challenge, though from reading this site so far, that has never stopped the proliferators of "Speed Kills".
ADD "Attention Deficit Disorder = Speed Camera Policy"
I'm sure someone can improve on that idea.. Attention Deficit...
Others that might be enlisted might be:
"Mind how you go" (Dixon of Dock Green ?) "Drive Safely" "Take care"
"Look where you are going" "Rock & Roll" "Sleep well - for tomorrow we nip"
"You never know what's around the corner - a gatso or a nip, usually"
Speed Kills Joy... hmmmm no. "The gatso made me do it officer" (as if an officer woould be there)
I'm just adding tings as I think of them, these are mostly day-to-day phrases that while not K words, slip easily into the psyche. I'll play with them later if that is an "ok" thing to do, so this message is a work-in-progress
e.g. "Weren't you looking where you were going?" "of course I was, I was looking for speed cameras so I would know when to slow down/avoid a bill/ drive badly (slam on brakes without warning) etc etc".
I sometimes wonder why we don't set all gatsos to speed limit plus 30, that way the dangerous idiots only would be hit and the rest of us can concentrate on looking where we are going again. (None on motorways)
Even better: none at all.
My 2p as a way to say hello.
