I'm the new one here and wondered if anyone knew if certain car colours are more likely to be caught by speed traps??

I cover over 60k miles a year and up untill a 4 months ago i had a clean license. I'm sure we've all seen a radar trap, looked down at the speedo and thought "arse!!" but nothing ever comes of it, or least that's what seemed to happen, untill....
I change my company car on average every 6 months and normally had grey or silver in colour, my current car is black and in the time i've had it i've had two NIP's, each time just 9-10mph over the limit by mobile cameras.
Do you think some colours are easier to get a reading off or am i just being a tad paranoid and need to lay off the benilyn!!??

Were they different make/models?

It's quite possible your new car has a more accurate speedo, speedo's over read, but by varying amounts. My speedo for example is always 3mph fast, but some cars are less accurate, and some have a percentage "over-read".

One possibility...

A fair majority of the Essex police force were found to be guilty of running a "snooker lottery" where cars of varying colours were concerned around 10 years or so ago.

Cars were worth the face value of the points dictated on a snooker table, with the exception of the black & pink being swapped around in points value.
Whoever managed to "pull" the most "points" during the month in question would win a prize of some description.

Probably because yellow cars are often sporty things or hot hatches - the owners of which are invariably evil murderous monsters trying to set new land speed records, smashing cyclists off the road, scaring the elderly and habitually aiming for pedestrians and young mothers waiting at bus stops??

And no, those are not my real views of yellow cars, but they are often sportyish cars which are bought by people likely to be "less responsible" than Mrs Jones in her Toyota Aygo. Sounds like the talivan pay them special attention because they are more likely to score with them.

Yeh, Tayside Police used to play that game too (so I heard) with the hand held units/hiding behind wall malarky  , now it's nearly all talivans in these parts.... wonder if they play it too, I suspect they prefer 'space invaders' "gotta zap 'em all!"
