Ah , Britain today , the claim culture grows greater and so does the amount of regulations to protect the back from knives - folk now need armour plated jackets, with extra protection in the back.

They're having a laugh, Aren't they?

Quote
Crews are warned that only "trained personnel" can carry out "lubrication of mechanisms" and that sleeping bags must not be used.End quote

Why can't they use sleeping bags?

Quote
The fire service has spent £130,000 on its new Calcot recliners, which will be used as beds during night shifts.End Quote

so what sort of bedding can they use then, if they can't use sleeping bags?

Talking of the fire service - coming home just now saw a fire engine with this logo on it -http://www.firemanslift.co.uk/ - and the sign "Fire engine for hire" - what next , are our fire services that hard up they can't afford a new fire engine ??

Their first task will be to take out their "personal-issue head protector" and place it on the back of the chair.

Do you think that is a pillow or a cushion?

Pretty soon we won't be allowed to get out of bed unless we can prove we have completed a training course in waking up in the morning :(

I heard today of a firm selling traditional clothes horses, who were successfully sued because a user failed to erect it properly, and it collapsed on them, causing shock - NO INJURY INVOLVED!!!

I am looking at placing disclaimers on all my products now, stating:
Caution. Unless you discover the secret of immortality, this product could cause your death in some yet to be discovered manner through stupidity!

"A fire service spokesman said: "Training will be given for health and safety reasons. There are moving parts.""

A lathe has moving parts and requires training, but a reclining chair for f*!*s sake.

Where did their safety guy get his quals, of the back of a packet of cornflakes ???

No - suspect it was with cards from smoke free cigarettes.

Seriously - with this sort of mentality we should start getting very worried if something serious happens for which we need the fire brigade and they've not handled it before - their safety guy will want a training course from the manufacturer before any one gets within 25 ft.
