I've even known someone who swore blind that U-turns at mini-roundabouts are illegal.

I do think however that becuase it's an unusual manouvere the person making the U-turn should take extra care. Provided your ready for someone pulling out I've rarely found it a problem making a U-turn at a mini.

As i said, making a u turn -expect someone to "assume" that you are going to take another exit , and ignore your indicator.

I would but I'll admit the give way line is a long way back there and a double mini roundabout would have been better.
