Was taking my bike to the garage due to it failing on me with the electrics on saturday.

I know i wasnt taking it easy either just in case it died on me....grrr

snapped going along a 2 lane 30mph stretch with no traffic on it..

ah bugger. no idea what speed i was doing at all.

not happy with myself.

no idea what to expect. filled the nip in , going to call them to see if they will tell me exactly what speed i was doing . :?

Don't call them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't say a word to them, seek advice on www.pepipoo.com it should tell you on the NIP what speed you were doing, if it doesn't, again seek advice on pepipoo and don't indicate on web forums that you know you weren't taking it easy. It could come back to haunt you even though you may not have been breaking the limit.

make sure you have an invoice from the garage... if it goes a to court a sensible judge may be lenient in light of the fact you were taking it for repair.

no invoice. it was under warranty. but i'm sure they would give me someproof.

The nip doesnt tell me what speed i was doing ,thats why i was going to call to see if they would tell me.

If you call them and the NIP has incorrect info on it, they'll have the opportunity to realise their mistake and send you another. Pepipoo will be able to tell you if the NIP is valid or not as they had omitted the speed.

In other words, seek advice first and follow it.

Get over to pepipoo and follow their advice. The NIP should tell you the speed and exact time of the offence. You have 28 days to respond to the NIP. Don't act in haste.

Read it fully. It'll be in there somewhere. Then get over to Pepipoo.

Come again :o

They want you to admit to something without you knowing whether or not you were speeding in the first place, that's strange.

They stopped writing the speed on the NIP as it closes the temptation for the recipient to take the S172 hit instead of the inevitable ban if it's a very high speed.

so he may well have been clocked going 400mph (which they check for, honest guv) and now has even less means to defend himself? :(

That being so, I believe non-disclosure is a valid option. A try-on. Has this been discussed on Pepipoo? I think I'll get over there.

Not been there for a while ;-)

Thats a bit strange. You got flashed on Saturday and you have already had an NIP. Must be rear facing if you are on a bike so probably a Gatso

If it is a fixed camera it usualy takes at least a week before they they issue an NIP. Because of the time to empty the camera, proces the film etc they spmetimes even run out of time so cannot process (14 day rule)

Yes, I was just starting to smell rodent droppings myself. Both here and Pepipoo have advised not to call. He claims to have called. I give up.

Its not a gatso as i know the road . there are no fixed cameras.

its a spot for the mobile van which i forgot... unfortunately.

yes i have called and sent off the nip.

the young lady i spoke to said it should be a fixed penalty... was bad but not horrendous.. but a good pic of the bike..

why all the sighs ect..

if i speed i own up... not a problem. i'd rather it was by a traffic officer and not a civvy camera van for revenue.

Fair enough. It's just that most people who come here see if they can technically legitimately come out on the innocent side of what is after all a technical offence (as opposed to, eg, careless riding), and that making contact in the way you have is closing some of the avenues of such technicalities.

More power to yer elbow.
