I'm booked for a live interview at 4:20pm.

I WON'T rebroadcast it on Safe Speed radio because you can all get Radio 5 anyway.

Paul,

That sounded like hard work, well done for keeping the point pressed. I've included this in a complaint to the BBC about biased reporting on road safety recently.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks. I've got no complaint about that one. Searching or difficult questions and being pressed on a point are fine by me. 'Hard' is good, 'biased' is bad. Somtimes it's hard to tell the difference... I've given the benefit of the doubt.

I appreciate your point - but his questions were not hard (for you) just monotonous and did not take into account the points you raised, so for me it sounded biased.

Cheers

Paul

Well done, Paul. I listened intentively too when I heard your dulcit tones.

I would give you a 7 to 8 out of 10. I liked the #1 comment about damaging the Police's reputation and standing in the eyes of the many (were you thinking of me???).

He was hard on you but I like the way you used the phrase 'suspended disbelief'.

My only real, major criticism is that you din't actually get to say the web-address. Would have been a 10/10 if you'd said something along the lines of "All our (unbiased) research can be found on the SafeSpeed website: www.safespeed.org.uk - we also have a large public forum too where you can see just how much damage this is doing to the police................

Only one other point I can think of: When the interviewer started rambling on about how unconditionally obeying the speed limit would be wonderful, you could have burst his balloon by saying something like "I wish to make it clear that the SafeSpeed campagn is NOT advocating, in any way, shape or form, people be allowed to drive at 200mph through the streets of Bristol (or wherever).

But well done - it was a good performance overall, and you certainly did better than I could have done.

It's deliberate policy not to give out the web address in short interviews. Three reasons:

1) Despite appearances it's NOT our objective to convince the public directly. We have to convince the opinion formers. Talking to the public boosts our credibility to the opinion formers. The opinion formers can find us very easily.

2) That 4 minutes of 'real estate' is precious - giving out the web details means there's something else that can't be said.

3) Giving out the web address conveys an impression of 'self interest'. We need to create an altruistic impression.

Nice back slapping session. Your interpretation of bias is our interpretation of a balanced attitude regarding your submission.
A second roasting for Safespeed on radio 5 in a week. We must tune in more often and listen to the public voice of reason in response to your nonesense.

Paul Smith - Somthing worth considering

Radio 5 :fingersinears:nahnahnahICAN'THEARYOUnahnahnah:/fingersinears: I agree it sounds exactly like your view of balance - I remmebr it well from the cumbria cash collection society forums.

Deaths down yet Steve, or are you all still gorging yourselves?

Why don't you set up a nice discussion on Radio Cumbria as challenged? Then you can try out your 'roasting' skills.

But you won't. You won't because you're a coward. You won't because you know your information does not stand scrutiny. You won't because your cameras have contributed to a rise in road death in Cumbria for two years running.

How do you sleep at night?

Isn't it amazing how Steve can respond in under an hour when he wants to take the piss but goes quiet for days when the radio debate thing comes up in conversation.
