I'm new to the Msg Bd and need reassurance (!) that driving thro' at 50 both ways (I didn't realise till later) means I won't lose my Licence. Whats the trigger speed? When will I find out?
The lowest
likely trigger threshold is 47mph. With an average speedo exactly on 50mph, your true speed would probably have been 47.5mph. So it's right on the edge.
Speedos are (approximately) allowed to over read by up to 10% but are not allowed to under read. This rule only applies at time of manufacture. After a few years anything can happen to the accuracy of the speedo and there's no legal check or requirement.
I suggest you use or borrow a GPS with a speed readout and check your speedometer against the highly accurate GPS speed. (Most GPS gives speed accurate to 0.1mph in straight and steady conditions.).
On balance, I'd hazard a guess that you're going to be OK this time.
