The only thing we can hope for now is that labour will see the loss of so many seats and majority as a slap in the face by the voters, get the knives out and do some re aranging - with a long hard look at what policies caused their slap in the face.
As well as that , local ward parties select the MP - at present at grass roots level they like speedcams - not all of them though - and hopefully as the speedcam empire expands they'll see the truth especially if they can't get money for upgrades and they're not allowed to get any from cams.

Just as well your boss hasn't picked up on this, then:

Commission, no. But it's getting near the end of your shift/rota, and your boss is after 200 points from each officer, and you haven't reached it again . . .

Worse still, 50 points for managaing a fatal acc. scene? What do they expect? Trafpols out throwing tintacks off M-way bridges?

It's a ridiculous initiative. Hardly builds up trust between us and Nuffer's Nuff here.

We don't need daft incentives to motivate us to do the properly nor do we need Argos vouchers to encourage us to actually turn up to work and not throw sicky either.

Hand on heart, and Bible - never been off sick once - apart from three bouts of flu and the time when I was stabbed whilst trying to arrest a criminal.

Nor do I or any of the lads and lasses up here go around nicking people for the sake of it. Certainly a daft system like this will only further damage and compromise relations.

Trouble is botach ...we have to get hard evidence to get a charge to actually stick - and even then we are up against politically correct magistrates at times.

In a case such as yours - we probably have an idea which yob did it. We have the small matter of actually proving it. May nail the guy eventually - but not for the crime which affected you. It's when they plea bargain by asking other crimes to be considered that we find hunch was right - but we get some strange results from the legal system... community service... minor fine...and back on the streets for us to arrest all over again! :furious:

Civil engineer - can sympathise. But the production of licence would probably be one of those routines to comply with he stupidest paperwork on planet in this instance - assuming your girlfriend was victim of the "fail to stop"

I don't think Ian, cotwsold, Neil or self could say anything to convince Nuffers that most of us are nice blokes really....

Not your average hardworking BiBs who are the problem - but - politicians, apathetic voting public and odd CC with high political agenda

IG- just using this as example.

Yep - i even had druggie yobo confess to my son - but what good that - but he (yobo)liked to drive and he didn't have a licence - so everytime i saw him in the front of a car/anywhere near a car, i played the law abiding citazen, the local lads loved it as they were looking to have him for anything carwise not what i was told, just what i saw from reaction times mentioning his name.Phone in on non 999 , drive 500 yards and find traffic car with 2s and blues on - tell me thats a coincidence after a few times.
In the case of the PC magistrate - we had one kid( same one who liked cars , liked to break in) who was on the street before our beat lad had drunk his pg. We simply put presure on our politicians - next time up before beak - remanded.

The three times I've been done for speeding (a long time ago now - got up to 11 points but have a clean license these days), I've been pulled by a trafpol. I was also stopped a few other times and given a telling off.

In hindsight, each time I was pulled, I deserved it. I was driving like bloody idiot (far too fast in a 30 zone), and I've modified my behaviour - I still like to drive quickly, but I don't do it in urban/built up areas any more, I have a lot more respect for the road conditions. I'm sure that part of this is probably due to the "human element" of actually being told why I'm getting an NIP at the scene, and given a talking to. The message eventually sinks in!

All this youthful lunacy was performed in the days before speed cameras became widespread (it seems so long ago now...) I sometimes wonder if my attitude would have changed in the same way if I'd have picked up my points as the result of an automated process, without any real explanation of why what I was doing was wrong.

So to the BiB in this thread - don't despair - we don't all resent traffic police!
