Hmmm... Well I have been a biker, even at times when I haven't owned one, since 1975. (It’s always in your blood

).
Back then I remember on more than one occasion being told to leave a pub, they refused to serve us and told us to “get out”.

This is unheard of today and bikers have become respectable 'clean' decent citizens with jobs other than bricklaying.
I still find it strange to this day that back then, in the days of 'Love Thy Neighbour', black people could go where bikers were routinely kicked out! My black friend found discrimination when he was actually on the road and would most often get stopped when spotted by a traf pol. Hard to believe this was only 35 years ago but it still looms large in my living memory and makes me sick to my stomach.
Thankfully, both racism and bikeism has all but come to an end and I don’t think bikers are quite as persecuted as you suggest. I think
all people on the road with an engine either between their legs or under a bonnet are persecuted these days.
I would agree with you if you were to say this country has a 'downer' on bikers more so than on the Continent. But I think it's a more a Laissez-faire thing than anything. If you are doing no harm then get on with it...
We are culturally stunted, or perhaps I should say saturated.
