Given the choice, I would rather have one of the old "Yank-Tanks"!

:D

In this neck of the woods ,folk just remember the negative -Pug were only here for the good times -and left Coventry as soon as it became expedient to do so .Much like ,I fancy Kraft will do to Cadbury ,despite the rosey specs worn by Whitehall .

Drivers are like donkeys -they respond best to a carrot, not a stick .Road safety experts are like Asses - best kept covered up ,or sat on

Very true!

I have never been happy about "Inward Investment" and have always consideredd it to be a poisen chalace!

As for forign companies buying into our industrial infrastructure! :o

Consider the recent closure of that steelworks "Oop north" recently.

What the press wont tell you that a large factor was the fact that the new owner (that indian bloke) could make more money by closing the place down in return for "EU(SSR) Carbon reduction credits" than he could by making steel (Despite the fact that is was a pretty efficient plant!)

Those that the Gods wish to destroy, they first drive mad!

In the past when BNP retoric has described westminster politicians as "Traitors" I thought it was a bit OTT. Now I am not so sure they are wrong!

Beginning to look on BNP as perhaps something to get a balance back into British life . Perhaps if some voters had visited our colonies farmed out to dictators (try Zimbabwe) then they'd see how bending over backwards to a creed tolerance worked against all the rights of the populace .Time the visitors to this country accepted our way of life and adopted ,instead of the goody two shoes demanding that we cow tow to their demands .That's all the BMP is asking for -equal rights for those of us who can trace our ancestry back past the last ferry up the mersey .
Perhaps ,I'm being racist - but three years in an African despoticic society ( AKA ZIMBABWE) WHERE showed me where their desires lay .

My parents lived in "Zimbabwe" back in the late 50's

My Mother was a teacher and my Dad was plant metelurgist on a copper smelter.

My Parents recollection was that, even back then, most "Ordinary" Africans were quite terrified at the idea of "Independence"

They all knew exactly what would happen.

And it did!

OH -IT DID - Iwas thereto see the meltdown in the 80's - my kids attended small schools in the outback -where the education from dedicated teachers of all races was excellent . I was feared/respected by the security forces, having too many friends who recognised that I had no political views ,but friends in high places ,who respected my non involvement, and also respected for my involvement into pushing for a better way of life for my subordinates .Funnly enough - the bush African was one that I most respected - their needs were simple -but they appreciated any help /etc . Like -one day I met an old man who had half a newspaper ful of tobacco , and needed a light - to get a smoke - simple to us ,not possible out there - to see his facewhen I lit it was pleasure enough .
Lke the day when one of my lads shouted "Bwana- lookout-snake "-and he shot round to protect me from a puff adder ,cutting it's head off with a spade .
Thar's my recollection of Zimbanwean's-
