Well, it's been five weeks now since our Road Safety experts? (impersonators!) here in Notts promised us (threatened?? drivers) with "Vigorous Enforcement" for parking on the zig-zag lines outside schools, up until to-day, no sign of any 'enforcers'.

Three weeks ago, a young child narrowly escaped injury after being 'brushed' by a car which was reversing along the zig-zags, (with its two offside wheels ON THE PAVEMENT !) into a group of kiddies waiting at the school gates.

I contacted the 'Safety' impersonators and gave details of the incident and the vehicles reg number, plus a description of the driver and was told, "Report it to the police, as we cannot do anything about it"
I informed the police and they said, "We'll send an officer to take a statement"...........(still waiting)

(BTW, The offending driver is, the WIFE of a..........POLICE OFFICER !!!)

This morning, two, 'Yellow Jackets', on mopeds, rode past the school site 'twice', I stopped them on their second time round and asked what they were doing about the offending vehicles on the zig-zags, one of them rode away, and the other one informed me that, "We are monitoring the situation" adding that "We are 'short on manpower' but something will be done soon" !

FFS.

Seems like we've got to have a fatality before anything's done, it all boils down to the fact that there's not enough 'REVENUE' to be collected from the zig-zag parkers for the 'Safety Impersonators' to take any action !

I'm writing 'another' letter to the Nottm Eve Post (they failed to publish my last one) and also sending one to our Chief CON. but I'll probably get a reply from one of his tea mashers mates assistants informing me that he's far too busy (counting his profit from scamera 'takings') to respond to me personally.

Ther's loads more to this, but I'll keep it short for now.

Why not take photos of the offenders and take them into the police.

Or better still, take the photos into the school, and get them to display them like "Wanted" pictures on a notice board at the school entrance for everyone to see when they go in. That would definitely make the parents think.

Taking photos outside a school might earn a smack in the mouth these days. I mean, there've been bans on parents filming the school play in case one of 'em might have (careful phrasing for Mad Mog's benefit) alternative intentions for the tape. I've heard of an angry father piling up to an amateur photographer on a beach demanding to know WTH they're doing photographing his kids (who appeared as specks on the horizon in the picture). Having a camera near a child can easily make people suspect you in these paranoid times.
