Not really a new topic, just another "scamera" partnership finding out they were wrong.

Even Better (worse?)

Quote:
Roger Harding, of the council's road safety intelligence team, said: "These reductions have been achieved against a background of continued traffic growth but the casualty figures are still far too high.

(my emphasis)

Strangely enough after that snippet in one paper ,I found news of an accident in another paper (Heartland Evening News) , which unfortunately does not have a web page. From the amount of emergency vehicles in photo it would look quite serious, seem to remember that two cars were involved.
This report adds fuel to this sites arguement about cameras not stopping accidents( or the theory that cameras cause accidents) - this one happened right beside a camera ( its one that caused controversy as it is the only truvello, forward facing camera in the area) .
Wonder if anyone was over the 30 limit -( or will the scamerati admit if either was under 30?) --would be nice to know.

I think this story demonstrates the complete lack of cohesion in the whole policy.
Similarly, the A41 that heads through the outskirts of Wolverhampton into the city has a 40mph speed limit - a quite sensible one IMHO. Yet the local authority want to downgrade it to a 30mph limit...eh? There's been no incidents at all along this stretch of the road that I can recall.
Oh and one more thing. The road is looked over by four silent yellow faced sentinels that stare down along its length with a glowering menace. Gatsos that haven't been loaded with film nor flashed one single flash in the four years or so my wife has been travelling into and out of the city on her way to work each day.
So in sum, they want to lower the speed limit on a road with no history of problems yet whose previous limit they made no effort to enforce whatsoever.

Remember the headline -

Road accidents on increase in county Mar 1 2005

Accidents and injuries on Warwickshire's roads increased last year despite an increase in the number of speed cameras in the county.

Did any one hear an interview with Supt Bond on Saga 105.7( midlands version) , probably also broadcast on other local radio, today.

Oh no says the good Supt, "casualty figures for Warks are now 50% down".
His interview sounds exactly like the line in "smile camera" dated 6 april 2004 ( Last updated: 12/01/2005 )
Sounds like a line from "the grand old duke of york" - "They were neither up nor down.

Spinning at warp factor 003.5 , mr Bond ?,( slightly shaken when Brainstorms text was quoted, but stirred to move the subject back to his point ov view)
