56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

Thank you for raising the matter of the Drivers Alliance.

Lobby groups that exist to assist the persecuted motorist are welcomed by Safe Speed.

When burdens are so great on drivers these days, we welcome organisations that exist to assist in making this less, and the Drivers Alliance is such an organisation. I would hope that we may work together on matters of mutual interest, as we already do with the ABD.

The more organisations that exist to question Government on their Motoring Policies, the more each lobby benefits and promotes each other to the wider (public) audience.

Each organisation as a unique USP that helps to inform Government, that their actions are seriously questioned, and considered wrong, or, out of order, by a sector of the public.

People have to recognise that groups such as the ABD and Drivers Alliance are generally concentrating on different aspects of motoring than Safe Speed, which is still the prime lobby group in respect of speed cameras.

We believe that they will gain many supporters, and wish them well.

The man behind the drivers alliance is Peter Roberts of the scrap congestion charge petition fame. :D

I've signed up as a non-paying member. The website looks good - clear and uncluttered.

Thanks,

I hope you find the site interesting and informative. We spent a lot of time trying to ensure it was clean and fresh.

If you do join, please consider the costs involved in these campaigns. The websites, travelling, mortgages and all other costs have to be found somewhere and as with SafeSpeed, we all rely on donations and subscriptions. If these dry up, there will not be any opposition to these government policies which are blatently trying to get us out of our cars and on to public transport.

I for one prefer my car, need my car and find it far more efficient and less environmentally damaging than the empty buses racing around the town with 2 or 3 people on board. How can a bus service ever replace the efficiency of a car or the comfort and convenience?

There is a new blog from one of our members on these issues - http://driversalliance.org.uk/blogs/view/47

You need to register for a membership to see the blogs and the voting panels.

I can certainly vouch for all the efforts and extreme commitments, that it takes to lobby Government. It takes determination, commitment, undying conviction of one's beliefs, and much support and efforts from many others too.
Huge efforts go into Safe Speed, and many people give up much free time to help support us too, (esp behind the scenes), of which I am eternally grateful - Thank You all very much indeed. Paul appreciated it, as I did, & do now:D

As a reminder, of course, you may join up to Safe Speed here and help us in our Campaign, for the pursuit for Intelligent Road Safety, starting by removing Speed Cameras (Safety or all other names provided to these dangerous devices)). After all without support we cannot afford to be here !

Many Campaigns are non-profit making, and our resources are a pittance, compared to the vast and seemingly never ending, pockets of Central Government. Paul made quite phenomenal progress, considering that all he had was the TRUTH / a laptop / internet and a remarkable brain ! Quite a combination when you think about it, - not that I was short of telling him either. He always had me to talk things through, and to come to me too, when he felt down, so that helped. I now have all of you - and this is great, thank you all again.

Just had a poke around the Drivers Alliance website.

While I support it's aims as stated on the front page, I find it a little worrying that you have to join as a member to view most of the articles. This is going to lead to accusations of fiddling the statistics if they ever claim to have X number of members in their publicity. It could be argued that a significant number of those members are people opposed to the DA who just signed up to actually read what they have to say.

Please make your writing publicly viewable.

Dropped back to the site and there's a proper forum now, but it's totally quiet. Needs kickstarting!

Need to register I think.
