I cannot find the orginal story.


It was initially opened by Paulie who was questionning why they needed to close the motorway M25 for a whole day after the recovery truck with the 5 talented young men from the broken down mini bus drove into rear of a lorry in L1 with most tragic consequences. Only the lorry driver who had been rear-ended und one in the party of talented young men survived this crash.

Lot of speculation on the original thread as to how this could have happened.

Per the tabloids Sexypress und Waily yesterday (both headlining very differently - with one focussing on the dead driver (the recovery vehicle) having traces of cannabis in blood stream - but this taken days earlier und not thought to have been a factor) und the other headlining the REAL cause of this tragedy. ... ):

It seems that the lorry driver into which the recovery vehicle with the minibus collided was driven by a Polish driver. He was driving along on an empty M25 at 19 mph - so the inquest ist reported to have been told.

Police reported as not finding any reason for this. Lorry driver did have FOUR Handy phones in the cab. Three were found by forensics not to have been used. They cannot prove use of the fourth one - as this ist a Polish phone,

Cause of the crash ist thought to be that the lorry driver was driving too slowly for the conditions und thus not at a SAFE SPEED!




So charge this idiot with causing death by dangerous driving or ist this the preserve of blipping over a speed limit?

Take note Aunty Mary und Dickweed..

had the guy been driving at the proper motorway speed - this crash in the wee small hours probably would not have occurred und I would be attending concerts by a talented guitarist whose skills und talents the world now deprived of by an inconsiderate driver who drives at a SLOW speed. Not to mention the lives the medics would have saved over a professional lifetime

I'd like to think that I could, for whatever reason outside my control, end up going stationary on a motorway and not get to the hard shoulder and not have someone end up in the back of me.

Unless as speculated, the lorry changed lanes suddenly, or didn't have his lights on, the blame surely rests with the driver of the Mitsubishi.

Couple of these .. think the bbc and the "thisislondon" versions suggest another driver honked at the Polish lorry shortly before the accident as he was observed to be

"weaving or wavering between lanes"


This would suggest to me that he was either tired or fiddling with a mobile phone or other device.

The other guy had traces of cannabis in his blood stream. It was deemed not enough to have caused the crash.. but I do wonder still given the latest published paper from a German Uni - backed by findings by UCLA on the lingering effects of these drugs. Was the recovery truck driver tired towards the end of a long shift? .. still tired with "after effects" of his joint or spliff prior to this?

Why was the lorry driver at just 19 mph and allegedly "drifting between lanes"?


This was also night time too. In the dark .. I think shadows on the tarmac.. night lighting.. may give a distorted idea of speed and distance too. Perhaps this is a small part of what occurred?

But in any case.. that night.. the world lost promising young medics, musicians and other talents. My thoughts of pure condolences and regret at lost lives are still with the families of all involved - including the Polish trucker and the recovery truck driver.

But the lack of COAST by both.. the slow speed of one and the basic inattention of the other seem to be lead factors here all the same.
