OK. I can't take all this rubbish any more. I'm sitting here watching "Traffic Cops" on BBC which is banging on about how speed kills. A fatal accident, involving a motorcyclist in the wrong lane, was blamed entirely on speed. Obviously the fact that he was in the wrong lane was irrelevant. A moment's thought is all it takes to realise that it is bad driving that kills, not speed. Why can't we spend less money on speed detection and more on driver education (I agree the standard of driving is generally pathetic)? Sorry if you've heard it all before, but it is nice to be able to let off steam! I recently wrote to the police with a critical analysis of their latest speeding blitz, suggesting that it was demonstrably and logically an irrelevence in terms of saving lives, and I got back an e-mail detailing how successful the campaign had been - because of the quantity of drivers prosecuted. Hmm. Brilliant. Anyway, I'm now off to write to my MP to see if that does any good. And I'm sooo pleased to have found and joined Safe Speed. How do I make a donation? Where's my chequebook....?

Not only pissed but, IIRC, stoned, and carrying about the bike a new set of brake pads to replace the almost totally worn ones still on the bike - hadn't got around to fitting them. Total cretin on all counts (apologies to anyone with thyroid problems), deserves a pretty heavy book throwing at him.

Actually, the chief super featured DID point out that cameras only catch speeders, and did NOT catch dangerous, drunk, illegal etc drivers, but the overall emphasis of the prog was on speeding.

And, of course, the Stocksbridge bypass should have been at least D2 standard in the first place. If the budget-cutters hadn't had their way, it would have been part of the completed M67, all the way from Manchester. See here for more: http://pathetic.org.uk/motorways/m67-2.htm
