and exceeding the speed limit means you are breaking the law. So, why would a 'respectable' group like SS be allowing a legal firm that supports people who break the law, to advertise on their website, unless SS supports people who break the law?

No law firm supports anyone who breaks the law. They may well DEFEND someone who is ACCUSED of breaking the law, but if they admit the offence to them [law firm] they wil have to advise them to plead appropriately or cease to represent them.
As pointed out in a case in Lancs, the drivers were not "getting off on a loophole". Since the road signs failed to advise them of the speed limit (coming from a side road to a main road, it is necessary to notify drivers of the changed limit...ie: A spped limit sign EACH side of the road) and no repeater signs were present on the main road before the camera van. The same happened in Northants, the A45 had speed restriction in place for road works, but the signage advising of the limit was not present on a slip road and the signs on the dual carriageway were not visible from the slip road. The speed restriction was 40mph in the road works. The camera van KNEW of the lack of signs since it parked IN FRONT OF THE NEXT 40mph sign, blocking the view. The drivers convictions were revoked.

No, I don't support some of the current limits, many of the residential ones (for example) are just fine. Increasing limits which are set inappropriately low does not necessarily create danger, in fact it can reduce it (especially on roads such as motorways).


Captain gatso is an extremist who performs near extremist actions (a real extremist is Miles Cooper), we're anything but. We are very much interested in safety, indeed we're very annoyed by the fact that the fatality rate has stopped falling and we believe we know why it is happening (and I fully expect you to dodge that point).

Ah suddenly it is clear, if one pleads not guilty to a speeding offence that is a loophole in Gatsos forevers mind. Even presumably the loophole that the driver was in fact not speeding. Guess We will all have to plead guilty, mind you, that's perverting the course of justice!

That's what all legal firms do for anyone they represent who has been accused of any offence. The advice will vary depending upon whether the person pleads guilty or innocent of course.

I don't break the law in my bedroom but I wouldn't want a camera in there just because others do break the law in that place.

Yes its true! Google ads place the ads there, based on algorithms their servers use to target the ads based on the content of the page. Clearly with widely ranging forum topics there is a lot of scope for what can end up advertised on a page. One another forum I frequent a seemingly innocuous topic resulted in loads of ads for adult diapers and incontinence pads!

Notice the little tag in the corner that says 'Ads by Google'. Then wise up.

I used to frequent a forum where one guy's sig had (don't ask) the word cowbell in it, meaning whenever he posted the forum featured adverts for obscure musical instrument vendors.....
