Safety measures on almost half of A-roads in the UK are "inadequate", according to a new star-rating system.

So the way to reduce the number of accidents is to improve the roads then? I thought the solution was more and more speed cameras. :o

Worryingly they are claiming a link between the speed limit and the impact speed. p21 clearly they have not considered the psychological effects that lower speed limits bring.

We know roads with lower limits have higher occurrences of speeding so I fail to see why a road should be given a higher score because the limit is lower.

All that aside from any link between the speed limit and the accident risk or likely impact speed.

Road safety is not about physics its about psychology - surely the IAM understand this?
