Police car crash: Teenager is charged
By Staff Reporter
A TEENAGER has been charged with dangerous driving following a collision involving a Vauxhall Corsa, a police car and a bus.
The incident happened at about 10.30pm on Sunday when the Corsa collided with a police car and then a 582 single-decker bus in St Helens Road, at the junction with Morelands View, Daubhill.
The bus driver, a police officer and the 17-year-old Corsa driver suffered minor injuries.
A 17-year-old boy, from Bolton, who was allegedly behind the wheel of the Corsa at the time of the accident, was arrested and has been charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.
A police spokesman said that in line with procedure the police officer involved in the crash had been temporarily suspended from driving duties.
He said: "This matter has now been referred to Greater Manchester Police internal affairs department and an investigation is under way."

The guy was only doing his job here. I wonder what would happen if I got suspended each time someone rather unfortunately dies on me - as they do sometimes.
But still - I suppose a speed camera would prevent all this danger from our police officers out there
The headlines seem to suggest "speed was the cause.. police are the cause" too. The blame clearly lies with the drunken idiots who are not even licenced to drive anything anyway.
If on a bicycle - I dare say these types also give cyclists a bad name
