I use a NavMan gps to navigate from home to Peterborough and back. Going through Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire the unit notified me of the 4th (and final) speed camera in that town.
I had slowed down to 28 MPH before the camera (verified on the gps and checked on the speedometer(I am paronoid and have a clean driving license). However, I was 'flashed' by the camera as I drove through, and speed had only increased to 29 mph.
My wife(passenger) could not believe that it had happened.

Is it possible that a mistake has been made?
What do I do if a 'speeding' ticket is issued??
Any advice on how I can deal with this and would it be worthwhile discussing it with police or whoever?

Thanks

Craig

Hi Craig.

Given what you’ve described, chances are you were flashed by an out-of-calibration dummy camera, just to put the willies up you.

Follow the instructions of naming the driver. Before you do that, check back here or to PePiPoo.com for advice.

Don’t worry about it  As I said above, nothing should come of it.

Actually a letter to the Chief Constable regarding unnecessary intimidation, stress and worry might do a world of good - and mention that this has affected your wife too.

If they were to intimidate you in your home you could apply for a court order to keep them away - and they might get an ASBO.
Why should the Scameras be treated any different to any other scroat who makes intimidating gestures towards another person.

Just read this thread http://www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15275 and make a note of the details you have mentioned here just in case, but dont worry over a GATSO!!

It's great to know that there are people who will take the time to help.

I will let you know whether I hear anything.

It was suggested that if I hadn't heard anything within a couple of weeks that I should be ok. Is this likely to be correct??

They have a legal obligation to send a Notice of Intended prosecution to the Registered Keeper (the person named on the V5 registration document) within 14 days.

If the vehicle is owned by a lease company, is a company car or has recently changed hands then there may be a delay before you hear anything.

That’s being discussed in this thread.

:welcome:

Well, I thank everyone for their advice and though it has been hard not to worry, I have not received a NIP in the post.

I have updated my gps to the Tom Tom 720 though and will try my best to retain my clean driving record.
