As an ex-biker, I'm normally around 100% supportive of the 2-wheeled fraternity. Yesterday my patience was tested sorely. More than that, for the first time since I had the misfortune to drive a Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin, I actually felt a touch worried at the wheel of a car.

I was on my way to Brands Hatch at around 11 o'clock. A whole group - and I mean a damned HUGE group - of bikers joined the M25, can't remember exactly where but I think it was in the Heathrow area. About half of them were British registered, the other half foreign. Let's just say that the road manners of lots of them left one hell of a great deal to be desired. Squeezing through gaps that weren't really gaps, cutting straight in front of other traffic, undertaking, occupying lanes two abreast, weaving, riding bikes that looked uncontrollable (one Harley in the outside lane had the tallest ape hanger bars I've ever seen).... yes, it was all there. The non-bike traffic was moving at around 60 mph, which isn't THAT fast, but it was quick enough with that lot around.

That kind of crap isn't the norm I know. Trouble is, there were so many of them, and so much other traffic, they were doing the kind of things that gets motorcycling a bad name.

Sorry - just had to rant.

I have noticed that once you get a group of riders the standard of riding deteriorates, hence why I only ride solo

Harleys are usually ridden by apes.

I have to say usually as my sister-in-law rides one. :bunker:

Firstly, :welcome:

Secondly, I was on my way to Manchester about 8.30am. A whole load of cars were on the motorway. Most of them were British registered. Let's just say that the road manners of lots of them left one hell of a great deal to be desired. Pulling into my stopping distance gap, cutting straight in front of other traffic, undertaking, occupying outside lanes when the inside ones were clear, poor lane discipline, not indicating, .... yes, it was all there....

Would you have preferred them to ride single file taking up twice the road space?
