Did anyone else see this? I thought it was right on the button, in similar fashion to The Root of All Evil? As someone with a background in (and immense respect for) science, I get particularly fed up with scientific words like "energy" being bandied around to support mumbo jumbo principles.
Given his demand for verifiable evidence (and quite right too), I wonder what Richard Dawkins would think of speed cameras, and all these other anti-car measures that are currently being dressed up as "road safety"? Not a lot, I suspect and hope. Maybe someone ought to ask him.

"The freedom provided by the motor vehicle is not universally applauded, however: there are those who resent the loss of state control over individual choice that the car represents. Such people rarely admit their prejudices openly; instead, they make false or exaggerated claims about the adverse effects of road transport in order to justify calls for higher taxation or restrictions on mobility."
