my ride today was pleasant apart from one incident just before the midway coffee stop.

i approached some road works with temporary lights. only about 30 yards long and obviously only just being put out (as the workers were still putting the signage out), with the cones on my side.

i stopped at the red, looked at the traffic just starting to come the other way, looked at the traffic piling up behind me.... got off and walked through.

half on the pavement and half in the road was a transit & a flatbed so i opted for the path of least resistance and walked down the road, to the left of the white line with the cones on my right.

i greeted one of the chaps getting signs out of the van and got acknowledged.

at the other end i was accosted by who i can only assume was the gaffer who asked me what i thought i was doing..... eh?

he seemed to think i had
a) comitted some kind of traffic offence
b) illegally entered a 'working area'

he didn't seem to appreciate i was a pedestrian at that stage, but i did point out they didnt have any pedestrian diversions signposted.

so i cycled off to more foul language shaking my head..... still ahead of the traffic at the red i walked past.

so then, what did i do wrong ?

I was always taught you're a cyclist unless you are carrying it!

Probably just jealous of someone who can think their way around a problem.

Ah! I have to say it.

He was more than likely a "jobworthy" You upset him by not toeing his line there :hehe:

However, had it been :stop: directing traffic - I think we'd have just nodded "better than red light dodgin'" :wink and taken no notice other than a nod and a wink
