you've got to hand it to 'them'...whoever they are they've almost succeeding in brainwashing the whole of the UK.
Brown and Blair are always on about 'big tent politics' or 'a government of the talents' but this fills me with dread. I want 'punch and judy politics' I don't want consensus....I was debate and conflicting options.
I hate the soothing nannying tones that start sentences with things like....'i things we all agree...' I BLOODY DO NOT AGREE!!!
I want the conservatives to say 'we voted for the war because we think that getting rid of saddam was a good thing but we abhor the fact that you lied to the public about WMD'
I want Charles kennedy to say 'I smoked on the train because I f**king wanted to and the police should start catching criminals (except he voted for the ban)
Why can't a bbc reporter say ' but with respect mrs spokesman from BRAKE how does losing a child in atragic accident make you an expert on road safety'
Nobody and I mean nobody out of my large group of friends and aquaintances buys this high tax, climate change, don't speed, 6g of salt a day agenda we're being force fed so who on earth is voting for these idiots and why does cameron think he needs to ape it?
You're speaking my language
In politics, we seem to have a disproportionate amount of style over substance these days. It started with JFK verses Nixon. JFK was handsome and had a makeover before going on camera whereas Nixon was nervous, sweaty and not so attractive. Nixon lost and so the dawn of looks entered into politics.
I personally don't care who my leader is so long as he or she is good at running the country. Regan pushed his religious morals into politics, but politics and religion should absolutely be kept separate.
I got bent out of shape over the Clinton affair when I was working in America. He was a great leader who left the country in the best economic shape ever, but the influential happy clappies thought differently. I'm not saying I approved of what he did but quite frankly what he did in his private life, with a consenting female, is none of our business. I don't look to the prime minister for my morals, I just expect honesty and integrity from a good leader; I want to know what I'm voting for.
I think people today are so defensive you can't say anything even when it's evidence based, but if we don't dare to touch the untouchable how are we ever going to learn.
As a simple for instance - does anyone remember when there was a scientific study about 15 years ago regarding the maturity of young girls?
The study showed that black girls reach maturity much sooner than white girls, by a couple of years I think it was. Were people offended? You bet they were!!! You may as well have just called all black girls promiscous but duh... that wasn't what it was about.
