"tomtom has a 40% bigger screen so you can see more of the road ahead"

what a load of happy sacks :x

people tend to stick them on the windscreen so if its bigger then you will see LESS of the road ahead. this is a case of blatant false advertising and will have a negative effect on the safety of anyone who buys one. if you want to see more of the road ahead, chuck the satnav out the way and look through the bloody windscreen :x :x :x

i dont like them but i have had my rant and i will now retire to the corner to suck my thumb and rock backwards and forwards :D

I wouldn't be without my satnav - and its screen is about four times bigger than the TomTom. BUT - it is an integral part of the centre console and doesn't in any way detract from the road ahead.

Are there any figures anywhere on the amount of accidents supposedly due to these devices.

Would be interesting to see that vs phones.Although sat nav gives locations where one should be extra carefull (due to the location of cash collection spots) ,and fall into the authorities definition of "things destined to aid road safety ( like cameras ?? ).

It would be more interesting to see sat nav vs a copy of the A-Z propped on the steering wheel, or a printout from multimap on the passenger seat.

wouldn't a bigger screen, sensibly placed of course, give better at-a-glance information as opposed to refocussing to look at a small screen though?

and why aren't they making satnav with HUD yet?

Not quite satnav but I plan on getting one of these.

Bluetooth GPS with HUD speedo. Will be cheaper than £600 I've been quoted for a replacement speedo for my Alfa.

cool. I'm gonna be running something like this in my new van, can you buy a PC-based HUD display? I guess the PC would need to have dual monitor support.
