The funniest bit is that he thinks he is extremely important. This probably proves the uselessness of the Council's recruitment department.

Petard by hoisted his own. :rotfl:

Don't they fine folk for driving in bus lanes in that neck of the woods? :scratchchin: (Oh forgot - he'd put that on "expenses" :banghead:

Insurance details/exchanging names/addresses "trivial"

:scratchchin:

Hmmm. Wonder what he'd do if charged with leaving scene of accident and failing to report

Ah! A "cycling officer" who does not .. er .. cycle. :?

Has anyone told Ken about this? :shhh:

You're right. You cannot make it up! :hehe: What an overblown buffoon.

Time for a rather embarassing apology.

Having spoken to Southwark council it appears that the cyclist who was knocked down must have been a little more shaken up than I thought as it turns out that the business card he showed me and we both passed comment on did not belong to the driver of the car involved but to a completely innocent 3rd party who was kind enough to stop and offer assistance.
I have done him a grave disservice.

My humble apologies to the Southwark Cycling Officer. This time we really do salute you.

I've asked Paul to delete this thread but I think he may be on the road. Could one of the other moderators please move this message to a new thread and then remove this thread?

I'm told that the CO was not in a car but rode a Mercian bike, wearing a TdF London cycle top, CTC lycra shorts and was on his way to a meeting in Ealing.

Anyone who went to the Smithfield cycle race last Saturday would have seen him in the folding cycle race - very wet like the rest of them. Lets hope the cyclist was OK- does anyone know?
