I still make it 42nd, not 6th. All the same, at present rate we'll be in front of the cannabis one before tomorrow's through :-)

It's 42nd overall and 6th in 'Transport and infrastructure'

We're chasing the British Library one, which is actually moving. But the gap is closing, presently 169.

We have 2485... oh, make that 2487 and 166!

Will be signed up once the confirmatory e-mail is sent to me.

I wonder how the spin government macine will deal with this one?

It appears that we are all wrong to object to being priced off of our own roads and until their pricing system has been tried how do we know it will not work?

In the case of camera's well they have been tried and Paul has bucket loads of evidence that they don't work so lets see what the spin boys try and make of this should be fun. Watch this space.

I would like to draw SSers to these other fine petitions:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to:

......Raise the maximum speed limit on Motorways to 85mph

......Remove all speed humps from UK roads

Failing those:

......stand on his head and juggle ice-cream
"If he's not going to resign, the least he can do is provide us with some entertainment."

Not the place to debate it, but 70 is not too far wide of the mark for a motorway speed limit, provided it is enforced with appropriate discretion. It gives police the power to prosecute anyone knocking along at 80 - 85 while root-arsing or otherwise being a dipstick.

Off to take off a speed bump.

5th in Transport category now

was not being deliberately obtuse earlier - never spotted the "by category" view!

Do we all know how to add a plug in our emails, by adding as a signature to the mail?
Dont expect too much from the press just yet - they are all harping on over Cameron apparently having taken cannabis at school!

Gordon Brown says he HASN'T taken drugs... yet he drinks whisky! Is there a difference then? I wonder if Cameron would sign the petition to divert attention?

And it's just gone ahead of "Legalise Cannabis"

2644 is brilliant for two days.

However, ultimately it will plateau from just being publicised through the usual channels - although Paul hinted he was working at wider media exposure. Maybe a comment could be tacked on to some story about the Travel Tax petition.

It's already had a tiny mention in today's Daily Mail. No URL given. But watch this space.

Now pulled ahead of "keep the British Library free of charge" and has "replace the national anthem with 'Gold' by Spandau Ballet" in its sights ;)

It's 40th in the whole list, I think.

Where will it naturally top out unless given an additional shove by the national media?

Now ranked 4th in Transport and 37th overall with 2,985 sigs. That's BLOODY good since 5pm Thursday.

But I want a big push today because tomorrow I'll be trying to get some organisation to back it. And the more it's a 'star' the more they will want to join in.

So think hard, folks, and spread the word. If everyone tells two people, and they tell two people then we can get some good growth. Better yet, tell other forums, mailing lists, usenet groups, and so on.

Massive problems with the Downing Street web site today. It was crashed for most of the morning. Now it looks as if it works but isn't adding signatures.

Our petition has been stuck at 4,381 since some time before 16:19. Even with the web site problems, earlier today it was getting signed more than once per minute.

It's possible that there's a huge queue of verifications awaiting processing.

If there's anyone here who hasn't signed, PLEASE sign and let's hear exactly what happens.
