According to todays figures on the CSCP WEBsite:

2006........61........282 ........2067

The advert says (in letters, not figures) SIXTY fatals and a blank graph for 2007!!

This afternoon they were having a meeting at the Central Ticket Office.... I do hope there is nothing amiss...!

According to the Gazette editor, they requested a blank graph - thus sidestepping the publishing of the 2006 stats, bar a much smaller line in the text of the advert!

Just looked at the CSCP website - today fatals are shown as 60

Maybe "JJ" can't count, or has someone risen from the dead?

I did send a message to point out the difference, so may be they had a lot on their plate, and had simply overlooked the typo!
It cant be easy running a campaign of twisted statistics and misinformation, AND getting the figures right in print.

I've just done a bit more research into this advert by CSCP. According to Cumbria Police website, there was a fatal RTA in Carlisle on 10/1/07. The CSCP advert was published in the Gazette on 26/1/07.

Ernest has confirmed with the Gazette editor CSCP requested a blank graph, so no typo error there! As published the advert as I read it is claiming as at 26/1/07 there have been no KSI's in Cumbria during 2007 so far.

As above, this is a lie, pure and simple. I'm sending a letter to the Gazette tomorrow asking CSCP to explain...

The igures for January are out in just a FRACTION of the time it took to get December (and the 2006) figures up on the CSCP site.

Not good.... especially when last year was up on the previous year.

Of course it is wrong to take a single months figures out of context.....
not that it stopped a certain person doing it when the first quarterly results in 2004 looked like being lower!

So there were 36 KSI's in January. Highly improbable there had been none as at 26th Jan when CSCP's advert was published

Or perhaps CSCP could add to its many meaningless "facts" that 27-31 January is a very high risk time to drive in Cumbria
