Brown and Blair are always on about 'big tent politics' or 'a government of the talents' but this fills me with dread. I want 'punch and judy politics' I don't want consensus....I was debate and conflicting options.
I hate the soothing nannying tones that start sentences with things like....'i things we all agree...' I BLOODY DO NOT AGREE!!!
You've never had it so good. The white heat of the electronic information age allows people to communicate far more easily than they ever have done before.
But I don't see that it is not being put to particularly good use. Wat Tyler killed a tax inspector and started a rebellion. George and James Loveless, James Brine, James Hammett, Thomas Stansfield and his son John were transported to Australia for started a Union and a march on Parliament got them a reprieve. 30 or so people look at their screens here and moan.
Are you, as an incensed 'minority', actually planning to
DO anything?
And what can we DO, exactly? Tony Blair (we'll have to see what gordon's like but I'm not hoping for too much) ignores the protests of voices that number in millions; has binned half the constitution that took civil war to win, and installed more survalence cameras than any totalitarian dictator has dreamed about. yet most people accept this with a quiet resignation at best,
"it could be worse", or passive acceptance. And it will get worse, it will have to get a lot worse before enough people wake up from their comfort zones and face whats happening. Till then we're wacko's, a fringe element most do not care to understand.
I've more or less come to the conclusion most people are sheep that want to be led, that are happy to give up their liberties so long as it means they don't have to think for themselves, and that I'm just the odd one out. One day perhaps the tyranny leading the people today will become so overbearing the sheep will revolt and civil war will break out; but they'll still be led through it, and nothing really changes.
