Now I am back in employment :D I have started using the "occupational varifocals" again as they are ideal for screen-intensive office work. However, as varifocals of any kind require a bit of "psychological adjustment", you can't just instantly switch between the occupationals and the standard varifocals, so I am back to driving, at least during the week, with the single-vision distance lenses, which leave something to be desired when trying to focus on the instruments

Don’t laugh but right now I am wearing a pair of Boots 1.5 magnification, at a cost of £1, on top of my normal specs to see my monitor. It looks silly but it works; until I can save up for a proper pair.

Two specs Tone  :(

Now that is double glazing Botach

I've found that for most things close up, my normal computer/reading glasses( 2.5 at the mo) are adequate, but for reading the value on a small capacitor /IC etc, I need to double up with another pair on top of the first, but the doubling up affects the focal length .

You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society.

Same comments,Peter. Yep,Tone- it seems that we can correct vision, but we cannot replicate the eye. At one time ,I could lay out an IC on an PCB with a pen with out any vision help. Now I need one pair to see the PC, and add another to see what type of IC it is.

Tell me about it Dave. Oh, you just did :D

Mine are slightly different to yours from the sounds of it. If I take my specs off and bring it, whatever 'it' is, to within about 12" I can see a zit on a fly's bum with perfect clarity.

With regular specs I can see the zit on the fly's bum on Mars. It's this in-between thing that bugs me. It's the old inflexible rubber muscle thing in the eyes turning into Bakelite.

Ah the joys of getting old...
