I,ve been hearing rumours that the EEC has teamed up with DVLA to prosecute speeding British motorists by endorsing our Licences.
Has anyone any info on this? :?

There was something on The Register a few days ago. I didn't get around to investigating, and I can't find it right now. Anyone?

As far as I know - still under discussion.

A reciprocal agreement has existed between France and Switzerland for years.

Think the person behind it is the Portuguese MEP in EU Transport Committee.. cannot remember her name - but given Portugal's standards  per the official data.. she really would do better to set her own house in order first...

Cheers EM that appears to be the one and there was me thinking I could drive relatively freely on my tour of Europe this summer without constantly having to worry about points on my licence.

Good reason for taking holidays in the USA, Canada and other no-EU countries once this happens.

so, assuming you are there on holiday, relax a bit, lighten up a bit on the speed and don't risk your license and hence livelihood? Drive to the 'ring on your way to wherever your going, and do your speedy bit there, get it out of your system.

Just a thought.

Oh dear there's always one isn't there?

One of the reasons I was looking forward to going to Europe on my Motorcycle was so I wouldn't have to constantly check my speed instead of watching the road ahead.
Speeding is not something I look to but it can happen all too easily but in this bloody country it,s not easy to keep your licence clean. :x

:yesyes: Of course, and it's far more relaxing and safer when your not obsessing over speed constantly.

I must say I'm suprised you were pounced on, I thought others would have understood what you meant.

This is TRUE!
I got stopped for allegedly jumping a red light - yet the French cars in front of and behind me did not! When I proved I had no French money on me, only credit cards, they relaxed, laughed and sent me on my way!

The second occasion I had cause to complain, was when I got a ticket for parking in a disabled parking space in the ferry terminal at Cherbourg - and the date of issue was four days after we had returned home!
The summons is as arrogant and demanding (and threatening) as some of ours in this country.
I didn't respond, and three years on, have not been stopped going back in! Maybe that will change!

that said speed isn't pre-requisite for enjoying my driving.

that's a bit harsh / uncalled for.

I know. Gary Glitter is another Brit who looked forward to going abroad to break the law because the coppers are too strict here – but look at the pickle he’s in now!

Blimey BW..! You're really losing the plot, man... I think that serial paedophilia is just a tad more serious than a bit of light speeding!
