The Genius Sperm Bank

BBC Horizon programme, http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/program ... perm.shtml

The Genius Sperm Bank was created in the late 1970s by Robert Klark Graham, an American millionaire optometrist.

He enlisted avid dog breeder Paul Smith to source new donors.

. . . . . . . It seems Paul had some other interesting activities.

Blasting totally off topic...

Roald Dahl wrote a book about that in 1979!

Paul Smith is also a credited as a character designer for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on the PS2.

Not really safe speed there.

(slight more on topic, but not really)

Not sure whether it is classed as Genius, but he DOES have this rather slick website....
http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/
Just dont let your wife see it, unless she's shopping for your next present!

In fact if you Google Paul Smith, you will find he is surprisingly proliferate - I just dont know how he fits it all in!

His occupation must have been a great relief to his more avid donors ;)

According to a BBC news item tonight, there is only ONE sperm donor in Scotland!!

I SHALL refrain from making the obvious joke, and upsetting the Scots membership!

Actually. That shouldnt be too surprising.

"Genius" (as opposed to merely highly intelegent) is probabally only applicable to 1:1000.

Scotland has a Population of what arround 3 million so there are aprox 3000 possible candidates.

Since this is a "Sperm" bank only half this number will qualify as potential doners

(Not quite true At this level Men are likly to outnumber women somewhat :bunker:  )

However this 1500 (Or so :) ) represents people of all ages from Babes to old men! the young and very old will not be deemed suitable.

Upper age limit is probabally mid 40's lower age limit is probabally defined by being old enough to have "Proved" your genius IE Unliky to be less than 25.

What is more I suspect that *most* genius grade people do not go on to do "Genius" things (say only 10% maybe even less)

So our potential "Sample" is now arround 1500* (15/70) * 10% or only around 30 people!

Getting only *one* of those to donate is actually quite a good achievement!

Shhh! It was meant to help Semitone!
I'd volunteer to go cross border to help them out, but it's too late for me.
I do believe you get paid a small fee though - perhaps we could appeal to the forum members on this as a way of supporting Safespeed. How old are those nurses Paul?

Now perhaps Paul has not seen the average nurse in Raigmore hospital.

(Last visit -their part time job was wrestling)

Having seen some of the types they have to deal with, it sounds an admirable qualification!

I hope I get ones with experience though - I bruise easily when they stick the needle in roughly! :D
