The penalty for 'Having a number plate that does not comply with the law' is, up to a thousand pounds !
That's true - but mostly it's a £30 fixed penalty ticket.
The maximum penalty for driving at 71mph on a motorway is 2,500 pounds and 6 points, but mostly it isn't even prosecuted.
The typical penalty is clearly the important one in many cases - we shouldn't be brow beaten by threats of a maximum penalty that has probably
never been applied.
Well bogger me !
Even though I have never been caught exceeding the limit, yet, but it's only a matter of time before I inadvertently creep over the posted for a few seconds, so I've just decided that my front number plate is coming off !
Just in case.
At least this way I won't get any points ?
Thanks for that.
But then again, you did say 'Mostly' !!
And, is the £30 fixed penalty ticket just a first offence one off ?
Hanbo.
