Current betting is on a Lanca$hire takeover of Cumbria :o

Lanca$hire has cut its Trafpols by 20% over 10 years so IanH will be helping old ladies across the road next year...sans car

Fixed scams will be appearing on every road in Cumbria, just like Lanc$!

What a sorry state of affairs

On the other hand, they might realise the error of their ways, and Ian might end up patroling the M6 from Carlisle to Skelmersdale :o

Of course, there are only a FEW people LIVING in Cumbria, so they can borrow police from there to top up the numbers in places like Preston and Chorley, where the real crime takes place. NOTHING ever happens in rural Cumbria does it, quiet little backwater that it is? [/Disengage cynical mode]

The anticipated reduction in Cumbria Trafpols seems to have started already.

I went past Kendal Nick about 10.30 yesterday morning - there were 5 Trafpol Volvos stood idle. Went past again about 12.30 - 7 stood idle :o

That must be pretty much the entire fleet at Kendal? What is going on? Or was the Christmas lunch? :D :D

Well it's official - Cumbria is the ONLY authority to choose to opt in by the deadline.

It's funny, but so many people comment about rural schools - they are small and personal, so work better. Applies to lots of other things, yet here is the government trying to save a few bob by making the forces bigger and more impersonal.
The Chief Constable was being questioned today, and said it was too early to say if jobs would go... well it's a sure bet that one less chief constable will be needed, so more competition for the remaining post - reduced chance of promotion seems likely.

I would LOVE to hear a policemans honest opinion of this scheme - but suddenly they no longer have any choice.

Ah, but maybe the Scamera Pratnerships will be combined. What chance of the 'Speedfinder General' avoiding redundancy?

Can't find the article , but Warks police had thought of that one - the combined Midlands force would be too big "we'll need more in charge of each area "was the idea - in other words , have a super cheif constable and several other CC - would,nt the Pratnerships try for the same idea .

So the 'Speedfinder-General' can become 'Chief Assistant to the Assistant Chief's Chief Assistance'.

Goes along with their empire building policy.Only need to buy a few more vans to pay for it.
