There's been a 406mph Peugeot (coincedentally it was a Peugeot 406 - :o ), but probably not going to be many more like that. Pity, because it makes it clear even to those who've given the issue no thought whatsoever that the system is a long way from ideal if a NIP can be sent out claiming that sort of speed had been recorded.

And they still intend prosecuting

That shows only too clearly the kind of mentality we're up against. If we think we can win with reasoned argument, we're on a hiding to nothing.

Cheers

that's not all. There was also the school bus terror run, but don't believe the excuses because the camera is never wrong.

From the above referenced article

Quote:
Alison Richards, from the county's "safety" camera partnership, told the BBC: "We're definitely not cashing in. We have to look at driver responsibility first of all. All drivers should know - because they've passed their test - that the road signs indicate that they're coming into a 30mph zone. So they should start to think about slowing down before they get to that 30mph speed limit.

"It is an absolute shame really that we're in the position where cameras are hated so much and that people are paranoid that more cameras are being put up. If drivers slowed down and paid more attention on the road we wouldn't have this issue of casualties or collisions and therefore we wouldn't be looking at installing more cameras."

So exceeding the speed limit is now responsible for 100% of accidents! Either that, or these new cameras can tell whether a driver is paying attention to the road...

Can I nominate this as a contender for the annual safe speed award of "Stupidest statement of the year by a camera partnership"?

If such an award existed we would have to make it weekly.

Try these from Warwickshire "if people have an issue with the amount of money being generated all they have to do is stay within the limits and there would be no problem" = Another way of saying driving within the limit = safety
"it is paying for road safety because it's paying for the work of the partnership".Why, do they increase road safety?
