I have recently heard that there is a move to use three flashes of our lights to inform oncoming traffic they are approaching a mobile speed camera as two flashes can often be misconstrued as a common curtsey hello sign. This has been dubbed as THREE FLASHES SPEED SLASHES. Sounds like a good idea to me, can anyone confirm this. :camera:

I thought 3 flashes was the Reliant Owner's Club?

You do realise that issuing such warnings can lay you open to a charge of perverting the course of justice.

Is it actually 'obstruction of an officer in their duties' (not that SCP staff count as an officer)

As previously stated this can lay you open to charges and is not best advised.
The two flashes is not a 'legal' action, as it is not recognised by the Highway Code as flashing of your light smay only be used to make others aware of your presence, so if anyone were to mis-understand another meaning of the flashing of your lights, you may find yourself in some warm/hot water.
In real world terms flashing of lights does appear to happen as thank-you's and recognition, and possibly other intentions, but I am unaware of a case being brought to Court, so far ...

Beg your pardon, Steve. One can only pervert Justice where Justice is been done. :D

But how, in those circumstances, could a charge be made to stick? Surely one only has to claim that one was flashing one's light to warn the oncoming driver about a stray dog to introcduce reasonable doubt.

Our local paper used to list the camera sites for any day of the given week. What's the difference between that and one motorist "telling" another motorist the same?

Because the Police have supplied that information.

There was a case that held someone to account when they were 'warning drivers' so as not to commit a 'crime'. It made headlines at the time and they chap was accused and fined as I recall. He was accused and charged for obstructing the cause of Justice ?
Yet if you stop a burglar you are considered a hero.
