Since the road off to the left sweeps round, drivers are led to believe that this is a filter lane, and that drivers on the roundabout simply take lane 2 if they wish to exit to the left - and there is no reason to merge - the left exit is two lanes for some distance, so this could easily be so.
I have seen several near misses, as tourists (Southport pays lots of money to attract them) simply carry on out onto the roundabout, only to be cut up (if they are lucky) by drivers on the roundabout who make for lane 1 of the left exit - no reason to for the reason outlined above, but the drivers who fail to stop are in the wrong - through no fault of their own IMHO.
Now this is just one instance of lack of maintenance of lines causing a hazard.
Anyone in Lancashire know how to alert the authorities there, and actually getting something done?
There has been no action on this for 6 months!
In the meantime, can we use this thread and Googles Street map to record ALL instances of problems, and then visitors and regular posters can use it as a resource to alert their councils and highway authorities to their local problem areas?
