this is a question that popped up here and although my response is already there, i would like to hear the comments here. it could be an interesting comparison between car drivers, bikers and truckers

Taxi drivers, by a country mile. (Rush excepted of course :) )

Or, maybe, tractor drivers - the ones who don't turn off their high level, rear facing working lights when they are on the road.

Really old (85-plus) people.

so you did see the lights then? The reason we do that is to indicate to the class that the large, heavy, wide piece of equipment we are trying to move has bits sticking our of it and should you come into contact with it, it won't give, will hurt and cost a lot to repair the damage.

We are in the fortunate situation where we don't have to move much down the road. But when I escort the combine, all of my 14 work lights are on, as are the hazards as is the beacon. I shoot ahead to be visable to the traffic before the combine comes around a corner, large tractor straddling the white lines. This gives other road users plenty of time to tuck in to the wider parts of the road to allow Will to squeeze past. Some people still attempt to get pass me, which is funny, because if they just sit tight for a few moments, everyone gets where they are going much quicker.

The worst lorry drivers are the skip and demolition drivers. Fairly low down the LGV evolutionary scale.

This is a small tractor with no attached equipment or trailers and the beacon is more than adequate to indicate its presence. I was under the impression that it was illegal to show white lights to the rear of a forward moving vehicle. It certainly makes it impossible to safely follow the tractor because of the dazzling effect of the light.

Drivers who believe to be a safe driver, you only have to have two zones of vision, one on the lollipop at the side of the road and the other on that big dial in front of them... ;-)

in that case, give him a slap. Might be a student that his excited about being aloud to drive, or a dairy farmer that has no idea what a light switch looks like and probably assumes they don't work

I think that the peasant farmers around here only use their tractors for going to the supermarket. I can't think of any other reason for driving a tractor through town in the middle of the rush hour :D

The worst drivers are those who rush. The best are those who are calm.

OK, another gross simplification:

The worst drivers are "the car is just to get from A to B" merchants. The best are those who are actually interested in cars and driving.

An interest in cars and driving does not make you a good driver, else joy riders and boy racers
would be the best of all. All you can say is that, all else being equal, the best are those who are not
rushing about, tailgating, showing off and being a jerk.

Anyone in a vanity car ... especially German ones, for some reason. I guess the very worst is an
old guy in a hurry in a German vanity car!

On second thoughts, young guys in a hurry in German vanity cars are just as bad as old ones!
