Police have made an arrest per BBC news.
The girl's father has been arrested and faces prosecution over this incident.
I think a right decision. I feel very sympathetic towards the poor woman who was wrongly accused of drink driving and carelessness. Had she been careless - then I am sure she would have been charged with this already.
The children were on the road illegally. It was dark. It was an unsuitable road as it was dark, rural, unlit and "known to be busy". Any responsible person would not have allowed it .. not matter if subjected to "excited pester". A good many of us have kids. We know how bad the "pester" can be. But mature parents/adults should be able to use the NO word
He allowed it and I am sure like the McCann /Tapas 9 group and countless before them and no doubt after them.. they will be punishing themselves more than a court will anyway.
But parenthood requires common sense and it's about time some learned it - even if it has to be the harsh and tragic way.
I would say that to make that child's life worthwhile - folk do not condemn her father (or even the Tapas 9 idiots) - but learn from his/their mistakes as it can be a matter of "there but for the grace of God go I"

in many cases.
It does not mean leniency by the way.. but a court will take some account of genuine remorse and suffering in very personal cases when balancing those scales of justice.
