I wonder if anyone can help, I was driving last night towards Peterborough on the A605 Dual Carrigeway having crossed over the A1. I was flashed by a temporary camera doing approximately 65-70mph, i had no idea that there was a temporary restriction in place. And was unaware of the speed of the restriction until i came to another camera half a mile further down the road.

I have driven along this dual carrigeway more times than i can remember but was unaware of any roadworks.

It was approx 10pm at the time and no workers were around and no other vehicles in view.

As this will be my first offence, can anyone give me an idea of what to do, if theres anyway to avoid fines and penalty points if a NIP appears on my door step, and what are the likely penalties i might receive.

What was the temorary restriction?

Sorry it was a 40mph Temporary Speed Restriction

If you do get an NIP, it would be worth your while going back and checking the signage and making sure it's adequate.

I've got my father going up to check it out at the moment as i don't live locally..

Do you have any idea what i might get in the way of penaltys if something does come through??

Ok so heard back about the signs. And ot would appear that all the correct signage was in place.

So if this is the case can anyone advise what my next steps should be, and also what fine and points i should expect..

The only reason for not noticing the speed reduction i can think of ifs tunnel vision.. driving for 2 hours at night i dunno..
