Talking of astronomy, I noticed on the NASA site today that the Perseids this year fall when there is next to no moon. If you get a chance, sit out between 11PM and 3AM on Aug 11th/12th and look in the general direction of Perseus (I'll do a sketch nearer the time if anyone is interested - or, more likely, find a good one on line and link to it).
And on a weekend this year - even better! I recall many years ago (91 I think) being in the middle of the French countryside when the Perseids reached their max - no towns for miles, no light pollution whatsoever and a completely clear sky. Spectactular didn't even begin to describe the show
