The Ka? Nasty little thing, but pretty harmless. If I ever walk past one I always have an urge to roll it over on its back like a beetle.

Can't get a pic of one, but the soft top Ka always reminds me of a dungbeetle, sort of half expecting to see it cavorting along on it's rear wheels, pushing a large ball of dung.

Sorry to disappoint you but I (successfully) helped one ZX owner fight a speeding ticket.

And it was a diesel.....

......automatic.

I had a Citroen ZX once. 1.9 TDI. It could go well enough. Oh and it had 5 legal indicators too! :)
If Mr. camera van man had been faster on the trigger I might have had a speeding allegation to contest in it.

However it was a red model so that might be the difference.

I'm allergic to Micras.

"n" reg rovers- they have very tight owners who don't like wasting money on things like tyres.. brake pads... wiper blades

And I am growing an aversion to new fiestas, they are being bought by the "40 everywhere" set

genrally speaking, i dont like small cars or their owners. i like fast saloons (currently driving a galant and saving for the VR4 version) so i tend not to like small car owners either

german cars tend to be driven by dongs with the exception of the bmw 3 series compact who has not yet graduated beyond being a small dong. former mondeo men are now beemer drivers (as quite correctly pointed out by Top Gear) which the stats show. in 2005, more 3 series bmws were sold than mondeos

french cars. the owners dont know any better so the standard of driving is just as cheesey

italian cars. how cool do they look sitting there waiting for the AA/RAC to get them running again?

american cars. huge engines, big wheels, FAST. just watch one going round a corner or off a corner as the case may be. americans havent sussed out suspension yet

supercar drivers are lacking something elsewhere but money obviously makes them feel better about it. even more so when they spend however much to hire one for the day

jap cars. unrivalled reliability, fast, good looks and good value for money. this is the category i will be in for years to come :D

The new mini also seems to be an idiot magnet.

although as it seems to have become the ride of choice for estate agents...

Then there's the Mazda Bongo Friendee (for heaven's sake!). Not just slightly eccentric people, but full-on, seriously and irredeemably weird people.

Come on, you have to be a weirdo to think that a 2.5 litre V6 camper van is a good idea. The damn thing has side skirts FFS. The only time a camper van should have side skirts is after your mrs' washing has been hung out to dry on the campsite.

6thing the Micra.

Fair point, you would probably enjoy it Paul. Chioce of AWD or RWD :)

JDM import only though, and the 2.5L V6 was dropped in 1999. Probably best to go for a 1997 model to avoid SVA issues.

and a breakdown companies dream. when they first came out, i passed 3 within a 1/4 of a mile all broken down in the rain. certainly not my car of choice but then again, anything with a BMW badge falls into that category along with anything made by BMW

I have only called the AA out once, The car was not broken down, as it did still move. The last time I dove to germany and back I saw quite a few broken down cars only one was Italian ( and it was not mine :D )

There are loads or idiots with BMW's, but at least you don't get stuck be hind them on NSL roads. It is the small JAP CRAP cars which seem to have the worst drivers.
Here are some:
micra, wagon R, Jazz, matiz (i think that is jap?). Most minis seem to be just fashion accessory

The background psychology.

People who are not interested in cars ("It's just for getting from A to B"), vehicle performance and driving skills tend to pick a certain type of car. These are the "small Japanese hatchbacks" as noted above.

Young lads don't buy these, preferring Saxo/206/Corsa etc. Thus Micras, Jazz etc. seem to be piloted by older people (particularly women and men with hats) who don't care about driving - the Numpties.

:D :D

Anyone read the Sniff Petrol thing about how everyone was so confused about the Saab model range that Saab were going to simplify to two models, a cabrio and a saloon, named after their respective target audience: the "Drug Dealer" and the "Dentist"?

As the driver of a Saab 9-3 Aero HOT Cabrio ("old shape") - I take deep exception to these remarks:

Yokel - I never tailgate

patdavies - I've never owned a Vectra - and that old "it's a Cavalier/Vectra in drag" jibe has more flies than a horses arse.

Johnny the Boy - What can I say - I'm certainly not selling YOU any ;)

I did wonder how long it would be before the 'insults' starting finding indignant targets in the forum.

The Talbot Samba (IIRC) invented the word "rust" :D

It's bastard child was the Renault 14.

Neither of which are driven by numpties, as there are none left on the road (small piles of oxidised metal excepted).

When it comes to "numpty-mobiles" the Toyota Yaris Verso and any Rover 100 should be in everyone's top five at least.
