Hi All,

I've just uploaded a new Safe Speed web page to carry party policies and election news with a 'Safe Speed' flavour.

http://www.safespeed.org.uk/election2005.html

If you have any information that should be added to the page please send it to me by email.

I know someone in the forums here suggested such a thing - I already had the page in preparation (great minds...) and now I don't know where that post went. :)

If real road safety matters to you, only the Torys have the foundations of a positive policy.

Good stuff!

We need a prominent button to this page from the home and main pages now. It's news story number one and we need all visitors to the site, new and existing, to be going there!!

Nice work, Paul.

However I notice that you haven't included the Green party manifesto.
That might be good for a laugh, not to mention that it might discourage some drivers who may be toying with the idea of voting for them.

Cheers
Peter

Believe it or not, I have a positive dialogue ongoing with a Green party prospective parliamentary candidate. He's fully on message with Safe Speed and is considerig a press statement about real road safety policies. It might make for a fun piece of publiclty. :)

I have several further plans for the page but felt it was important to get it up and get it launched.

I've sent out an email announcement as follows:

============================================
I've dug up official policy statements from the main political parties and
published them to a new Safe Speed page:

http://www.safespeed.org.uk/election2005.html

It's perfectly clear to me that only the Conservatives have the foundations of
an intelligent road safety policy.

If anyone has further information that should appear on the page, then please
send it along by email. As news items become available I'll post them to the
page.

Christopher Booker, in today's Telegraph suggests that road safety is off the
agenda because it's expected to be devolved to Brussels. (link on Election
2005 page).

It's going to take a great deal of work to get road safety onto the political
agenda, but I'm going to try. I'd like to be in London making a fuss in the
last ten days before the election, but there would be a lot of expenses and
presently I can't afford it. If you want to support such activity, send a
donation or join Safe Speed urgently.

Given that the Conservative party will not even discuss quitting the EU, which is the source of much of the legislation that is devoted to “unreal road safety”, I feel that UKIP is the party to vote for.
Perhaps if the Tories promised to leave the EU they might win the election.

Any UK Government could simply IGNORE any EU law they dont like, just as the French do.
If they (EU) dont like it, they have little choIce, because they need our money.
However, the UK Government, and our ARMY of beauracrats CHOOSE to implement these ridiculous rules because it keeps them in employment.
Often, the EU ruling is NOTHING like the law the UK Gov. introduces.
STRAIGHT bananas?? All the EU asked for was conformity in standards, which was miss-applied by OUR civil servants!!! :x
Who enforces the weight units on market stalls as METRIC? The UK government!!

If you want a humerous way to encourage your friends to use their vote, try this link. The FLASH movie takes a while to load, but it IS worth it!!
