I'm dead chuffed about this!!

It almost makes up for my abject disappointement upon returning to the Mess on Tuesday, fully expecting to see the late-edition newspapers proclaiming the death of speed cameras, only to realise that I had my dates mixed up, and the ECHR is ruling on the 29th, not the 26th.

Doh! Image

The Government response turned up and was started in a new thread:

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING.

1. Well done all, especially Paul with a fantastic petition result. Be Proud.

2. Re: response from gov., indeed, they really are in wet fish mode...

3. ...and the PR threw it into the hot oil... congrats., now let's keep making intelligent publicity.

I almost felt like spitting on the floor when I read the claptrap response from No. 10. Nothing short of contemptuous, fraudulent, and a sure sign that there is more indoctrination of falsehoods than I ever dreamed possible.

Appalling.

Edit: I've now seen Paul's response in press release. Remarkably restrained. Well done, Paul. I would be spitting feathers uncontrollably.

The couple of typos are my version of the 'spitting feathers'. I saw it, went:

RIGHT! <clap>

... and bashed out the rebuttal in about 40 minutes.

Edited to remove the wrong sort of clap.

I know you're well-versed in rebuttals, but that is remarkably fast for a piece so well-oiled.

I am guessing in the fullness of time this will make it to the "letters" section of your website. I presume you will be putting together a formal letter to the PM (possibly via your MP) over their dross?

:yesyes: Exactly... Unless I can generate an immediate row in the press.

It's risen to 7th in closed petitions.
