Surely what we all wish for (us motorists) is an end to prescribed speed limits? The debate about speed cameras is really discussing the wrong topic. The point is not that I as a motorist think the use of a camera is wrong, what I am really saying (behind all the rhetoric) is that I dissagree with having speed limits.
We all know the ideal speed for a road, and my research into this has showed my arguments to be perfectly valid. Every person to whome I have spoken has confirm that they never travel above a speed that is good for them and the road surface.
Speed limits should therefore be removed. They are an unjust imposition on the rights of those that have chosen to use the only realistic mode of transport. After all, this is the 21st century! Walking and cycling are hopelessly out-dated means of getting around and the sooner the public realise this the better for the rest of us that have "got with the times".
I am convinced that once speed limits are removed (which will happen - it is what the majority of the public obviously want), accidents injuries and deaths will drop dramatically as drivers are no longer searching for the dreaded camera. And we will actually at last be able to reach our destination, something that is not realisticly achievable where thare are speed limits.

Best wishes for a speedy future!

I would tend to agree, however there are hazards that may need thier own limit. but maybe the hazard should be marked and the limit prescribed by the type of vehicle. ie r40 bend means a 40m radius bend and advises severity. the speed the bend is to be negotiated would be different for an artic and a landrover and a lotus.
v150 might mean that visibility reduces to 150m ahead

“It has never been the rule in this country – I hope it never will be - that suspected criminal offences must automatically be the subject of prosecution” He added that there should be a prosecution: “wherever it appears that the offence or the circumstances of its commission is or are of such a character that a prosecution in respect thereof is required in the public interest”
This approach has been endorsed by Attorney General ever since 1951. CPS Code
