I know it isn't good form to take pleasure out of others discomfort, but this guy did deserve what he got!

I was driving along country lanes when I was lost this morning (sat nav fritzed, but that's another story) and as I didn't know the area was driving quite carefully. It was a 40mph limit so I was driving around indicated 38 to 40 - which is probably 36-38 real speed.

Two halves of a housebrick were in the road in front of me. One was on the centre line, the other about 2' in from it, it was fairly easy to position the car so that the drivers side wheels went inbetween the two.

Well, it was easy for me, as I could see the half bricks for quite a way before I came up to them. Not so easy for the car-sized-van that was a few feet from my bumper!

I heard a very, very loud thud from the van, this is despite closed windows and music playing, it must have sounded like the wheel had fallen off to the van occupants! I saw the half brick flying off in my wing mirror, I think it had been thrown up by the tyre and hit the underside of the van, the bounced away. The van stopped very soon afterwards, possibly to do something about the brown trousers and stained drivers seat? I hope he's learnt his lesson, and gives other cars a bit more space in future (or overtakes if he's that keen to go faster).

I suppose you could have made some attempt to warn him of the impending masonry, but this would probably have been misinterpreted by the sounds of things.

On an unrelated note today, someone nearly went in to the back of me today when I had to stop due to the dozen or so TURKEYS in the road (A road at that!). Now I've seen it all.

it did cross my mind but I hoped he would understand why I was slowing slightly not braking) and positioning my car close to the apex. Having said that, now I come to think of it it could have been construed as a "stop someone overtaking" kind of road position ... not one I would usually adopt but he wouldn't have known that. Even if I had braked, he may have misinterpreted that as a "back off" warning?

Exactly.

Re: turkeys - they were live, but for how long if they continued to wander round the A362.... I did my utmost to warn oncoming traffic once I'd passed by, but the fact I was laughing so much probably subtracted some gravitas.

I think I laughed the most at the woman on the other side of the road waiting for the turkeys to move. She had a completely neutral expression on her face, as if there was nothing out of the ordinary to be seen, whereas I was laughing my head off.
