Questions are sometimes raised about the suitability—the legality, even—of some of the locations where mobile safety camera patrols are parked. The Partnership identifies each location to central Government for approval, and once approval for the site is given, the area is surveyed for the best parking spot to deal with the problem. Furthermore, locations are selected with the full knowledge and approval of the Assistant Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police.

Very occasionally, the only spot available to do this vital work of helping save lives and prevent casualties is the footpath. In these locations, the officers always endeavour to ensure that there is no obstruction to free passage along the footpath.

Remember, the key purpose of a mobile safety camera patrol is to try and prevent any more crashes and casualties from happening.

Do talivans park??

"Remember, the key purpose of a mobile safety camera patrol is to try and prevent any more crashes and casualties from happening."

Actions speak louder than words.
From the parking standards of the ones i've seen the reverse is true, they're accidents parked there to happen.

Be nice to see the stats on how many pedestrians /cyclists etc get hurt around these sites

if a van parks on a pavement obstructing pedestrians makingthem enter the highway then 100% no

if a van parks at a clearly marked and designated spot on a footpath wide enough as not to obstruct pedstrians, access to this spot via a drop kerb with a relevant parking order, then i cannot see a problem

Slight bit of memory deficiency there -

footpath --Definitions:

path for walkers: a narrow path for people on foot

Nothing about a place for modern day dick turpins to loiter.

Mind you he did it honestly compared to this lot.

Are you people allowed to park on the left hand side of the road, on a left hand bend, on the verge, on double yellow lines, nicely removing about 100m of visiblity??? The answer is yes, or at least they were doing in sunny southend earlier in the year. All in the name of safety though. Balls.

oh botach and theres me thinking you were paulf rebirthed

on a serious note though from what i have read in here it has opened my eyes to the way that some individuals / SCP's operate, i would encourage anyone to challenge the positioning of any hidden van, asking for a visability statement from the operative (there have been examples on here which i have tried to defend and given up)

you would not believe the amount of paperwork / form filling on computers / checks that i do everyday as evidence that i operate within the guidelines both national and loca
