I have just driven down to the local town and, at the end of my village just as the limit changes from 30mph to 40mph as you leave, there is a policeman "scarecrow" sat on a chair cradling a fake speed gun. I had to laugh at the trouble someone had gone to.

Then I thought this is a very bad idea. You only need one person to emergency brake and the person behind crash into them...

Is this sort of thing actually legal? Is it impersonating an officer? Could I set it alight...

:gatso2: There's one on the Isle of Man. It can be found on the road outside Ramsey, leading towards Kirk Michael.

Sounds like an extension to the fake Cop cardboard statue one sees in shop fronts which, allegedly, work to deter theives. Of course, there's no drawback or potential risk from putting one in a shop front, unlike on our highway.

Those very same 'speed kills' fanatics would gladly have land mines in the road triggered by a speeding car if they could...

You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society.

Well , we've had plastic police for a few years ( Plastic Cycling( offences) ( and dog) Sh1t Officers )( well that was the main reason for bringing them in) for a few years. Now due to HMG cutbacks on County councils, Cardboard is the only way to go . However it could be to remind us what a Police Constable looks like, so that if one actually strays out of the station, from behind a desk/typewriter or donut bar, ( :D ), we'll still know what one looks like and not dial 999 saying little blue uniformed folks from outer space have landed.
