Speeding sting helps drivers put on the brakesby RYAN MERRIMAN
The brakes were put on speeders as they were targeted as part of a police operation.

Warwickshire Police’s Nuneaton North and West Safer Neighbourhood Teams spent the day carrying out speed checks in the area.

Officers were stationed on Whittleford Road, Ansley Road, Thorntons Way and Plough Hill Road.

The sting took place as concerns were raised by residents in Camp Hill, Galley Common, Kingswood and Barpool.

Local beat managers, PC Sherwin and PC Butler, along with Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) Udall and Woodhams took part in the operation.

This delivered positive results and sent out a clear warning to speeders in the area.

A massive 578 checks were done on the day in the various areas.

Out of the checks, 33 motorists were found to be speeding.

On Whittleford Road, leading up to Haunchwood Road a total of 180 vehicles were checked.

The officers recorded six speeding offences on the day.

Over on Ansley Road 175 checks were performed by the police and five offences were recorded.

On Thortons Way 103 check were carried out and 14 violations were listed.

There was also 120 checks done on Plough Hill Road which saw eight speeding offences monitored.

A spokesperson for the Safer Neighbourhood Teams said: “On this occasion, all drivers/owners of vehicles will be receiving advisory letters in the post.

“Any future offences will lead to prosecution.”

More checks are now being planned in the future in a bid to stop speeders in their tracks."

Out of the checks, 33 motorists were found to be speeding."( APPROX 5%)
Can't find the latest article crowing about the training of all PC/PCSO on speeding and news of new offensive.

Though this one is a good example of a waste of time. One road - despite a hue & cry on speeding"A massive 578 checks were done on the day in the various areas. But , hang on, when did I see a PCSO ,let alone a PC on beat duty round here .

Meanwhile , there's talks of redundancies in Warks force & mergers with West Midlands. But then as the fixed cameras are well known ,and the large vans have few hiding places left ,it's possible that income is falling, and more bodies are needed on SAC, before redundancies hit the SCP .
